May Update

Lots of things going on this month!

First off I finally got around to making a photo/ video tutorial for my crochet dreads and uploaded it to youtube,  I know a lot of people wanted to see one so I hope it helps :)

I have updated the main Black Sunshine website (www.blacksunshineiow.com) with a full price list and lots of pretty dread photos :)

There are lots of new listings on my etsy store, including some very cute rings! New photos added to the leg warmers listings too, so you can get an idea of what they look like when worn :) If would you like some in different colours than the listings just send me a message and I will get back to you asap :)

I'm working on a few custom orders right now so look out for some new photos. Plus I will be taking custom dread orders on at the end of June.

The Resin Adventure

Recently I got myself some clear jewellery resin to experiment with. I waited until it was nice day so I could do it all outside, as this stuff smells! Even when I took it out of the packaging it smelt :/ (luckily once mixed & set the smell goes).

I got myself some cheap silicone ice cube moulds from the pound shop to use first off, as some of the silicone moulds Ive seen online are expensive and I didnt want to ruin them if I messed up.

Here was my first attempt. I don't think I mixed the resin and the catalyst correctly as these stayed sticky.

My second attempt turned out much better (no stickyness), and I just stuck some random things in it to experiment.

And my 3rd try with some heart silicone moulds, these came out loads better.

I was much happier with these and made one into a ring just as a prototype. Hopefully I will perfect these in the next month or so and have them up for sale as ring and necklace sets :) So keep an eye on my etsy store.

I've added lots of lovely hand knitted items to my etsy store, including hand warmers, scarves and leg warmers! All in unique bright colours.
Me, I cant knit lol, but all of these items are hand knitted by my mum.

Crochet goodness!

Ive been working on my crochet style dreads for the last few weeks. Took me a while but I got there :)

I just listed this full set of 40 DE dreads in this style in browns, black & deep purple. They are are much lighter than my usual twisted dreads and have a much more natural look to them :)
