In other news Im just finishing up a few custom dread orders and have discovered mini hama! I love creating with hama beads, and these mini ones are so cute, even if they are a complete pain to pick up!
Heres a picture for the comparison in size, the mini hama is on the top.

Last week I attended the Devolution magazine Christmas party in Reading. It was mucho fun as always :)
I asked my friend Maria of Bubble Fusion to make me a shrug hoodie for the night.
Its black fleece with blue zebra trim and a plastic heart in the back. I LOVE it! It also has cat ears on the hood ^-^

Hosting this year’s event will be none other than the one & only Hel Painless
Live music comes from the Islands premier metal band Puritan Slain

Burlesque & Boylesque (this is where people take their clothes off) performances come from

Peter Deviant Vert &
Roxy Twirls

Organ Grinder with all the fun & games of a twisted sideshow will also be on hand to turn heads & your stomach as they bring to you acts like
Walking on Broken Glass
The Human Pincushion
Bed of Nails
The Human Blockhead

The Human Dart Board

This years event is going to be more formal & this is how we are going to do it, all persons in attendance will be seated during the event, tables & chairs will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. So if you want a good seat you will have to be there early boils & ghouls

All seats are £5 per person (Standard seating will be available on the door)

How ever there will be 16 V.I.P tickets available at £10 per person which will allow you access to the event prior to the stated opening times for a meet & greet of all the performers, a small glass of something (last year it was champagne) & reserved front row table along with a goodie bag which will include a signed program of the event itself (which will not be available anywhere else)

V.I.P tickets are currently available from The Beat This drum store in Newport (IOW).

The last winner of my facebook page chose 40 SE dreads in blends of yellow, sky blue and red. At first I wasnt sure of this colour combo but I think it actually works really well.

I just finished on a pair of falls in a Halloween theme to sell on my Etsy store. These were fun to make.

I have some new custom orders to work on which is always exciting :) And two dread installs to do tomorrow! Busy! :) But I am still taking custom orders.

Over the last couple of week me and my other half, Mr. Strange, have been recording bits and pieces for his new music video. We found some great places, here on the Isle of Wight, and I took a few photos. I feel very lucky to live so near to these lovely beaches and woodland. And I loved the old bunker and derelict chalets we found.

Since solely working from home on goods for my Etsy store and custom dread work I have been doing quite a lot of different projects. I must admit doing this makes me much happier than sitting in a shop, which I did previously. :)

I just finished a set of custom dread falls for an etsy custom in some gorgeous colours and she requested them to be all candy canes!

I have also made some new felt plushy hair clips and Im working on some new designs which I have yet to complete. My latest ones are these pacman ghost hair clips.

It's all about the hair!

Having a very busy couple of weeks with closing my shop/business, Red Sun, and moving house. Nearly all over now though and I can get to work on the many ideas I have for dread kits and accessories!

Last week I finished a dread kit for a customer. 50 double ended full length dreads in blonde, sky blue & neon pink. Today I got to install them :) Here is the lovely Sky, they really suited her!

At the weekend I worked on some new ideas for hair clips! So I made myself a trial pair to wear to a wedding on Saturday. Im in love with purple leopard print :)

I dont know why this photo has made them look different sizes, in real life they are the exact same size?! lol

Black Sunshine started nearly 6 years ago in 2004 as a mail order company on this lil 'ol Isle of Wight. In 2005 we set up shop in Newport where we still are today!
As most of you know Black Sunshine is a one women business. I work in the shop and run the online store 7 days a week as well as doing all the other fun & games that comes with being self employed.

I am sad to say that it is looking highly likely that the Black Sunshine shop will be closing in early November of this year.
This is mainly due to decline in the Island 'alternative' scene and of course - money!

But all is not lost! I will still be running the Black Sunshine online store and handmade etsy store! So as a whole - Black Sunshine is here to stay!

We will be celebrating our 6 years in business at The Boiler Room - Halloween gathering on the 27th October at the Balcony in Ryde. So make sure you come along :)

I just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped and supported me over the years; My parents, Luci, Sharon, Maria, Nick Painless, Tom,Philly, Nicke from Devolution mag and of course my Sauly :)

And thank you to all of the loyal customers of Black Sunshine - You know who you are :)

Devolution Magazine Presents: 'THE ALT COLLECTIVE 2010'

Saturday July 3rd @ The Face Bar, Reading, £10.00 Entry

THIS YEAR THE THEME IS 'CIRCUS' SO COME IN FANCY DRESS IF YOU WISH - IT IS OPTIONAL BUT FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOVE TO DRESS UP THIS IS THE THEME TO WORK WITH! :d

This is the second year we will be running The Alt Collective event and following the success and positive feedback from the first event which took place last June we are extremely pleased to announce the running order for 2010 making it a more diverse and unique show that will definitely be a day to remember!

The event will be held upstairs at The Face Bar – a large space that will be used to showcase new Alt Fashion designs and to see them bought to life by selected models and friends on a catwalk runway> You will be able to network and share a drink or two with fellow minded people, have your photos taken and have the exciting opportunity to purchase an array of clothing, shoes and accessories from a range of diy traders. All of this this will cost you just £10.00 entry for 9 hours of fun, socialising and networking. There will also be an aftershow party from 10pm downstairs in the Face Bar – ticket holders for The Alt Collective will be able to get into the party for FREE. It is also Nickie from Devolution Magazines birthday party!

We will also be raising funds on the day for a Domestic Violence Charity of our choice who re-home, counsel and offer support and advice to women and children who have been victims of emotional or physical abuse.
